About Dr. Shumway

Dr. Clay B. Shumway is a Board Qualified foot and ankle surgeon dedicated to providing the most advanced surgical and non-surgical treatments available. He is originally from Norman, Oklahoma, and earned his medical degree from the Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine in Philadelphia.

Dr. Shumway completed a rigorous residency at East Liverpool City Hospital, where he trained under national leader Dr. Lawrence A. DiDomenico. During this time, he gained extensive experience in complex reconstructive surgery, Charcot reconstruction, and trauma care at a Level 1 trauma center. He then completed the prestigious Pennsylvania Intensive Lower Extremity Fellowship in Philadelphia, PA. This high-volume surgical fellowship allowed him to specialize in total ankle replacement, sports medicine, cavus foot reconstruction, and complex revision cases.

Dr. Shumway has a special interest in 3D bunion correction and performed nearly 200 Lapiplasty procedures during his fellowship training alone. He also utilizes cutting-edge sports medicine techniques, including arthroscopic lateral ankle stabilization and cartilage replacement. Despite his advanced surgical training, Dr. Shumway believes in exhausting conservative treatment options whenever possible before recommending surgery.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Shumway is a dedicated family man with four children. He enjoys an active lifestyle that includes weight lifting, riding dirt bikes, camping, and shooting sporting clays.
